Chronic prostatitis

Chronic prostatitis in men

Chronic prostatitis is an inflammatory process that affects the tissues of the prostate gland and leads to its failure to function fully. The disease is one of the most common among disorders in the work of the male genital organs.

The risk group is men from twenty to forty years old, who are in the peak period of labor, reproduction and sex. Almost every tenth man at least once in his life faces such a sexual problem.

Chronic prostatitis is characterized by alternating exacerbations and remission of symptoms. Under the signs of such a disease, many other problems are associated not only with the genitourinary system, but also with other internal organs, therefore, when they appear, it is important to immediately visit a doctor who canexpertise to be diagnosed.

Chronic prostatitis develops over a long period of time. Quite often, this disorder occurs without any manifestation of any symptoms or with little of them, and is diagnosed during a random examination. The disease is difficult to treat and is likely to recur frequently.

Etiology

Infection routes:

  • directly through the urethra;
  • with an infected stream of urine;
  • with the movement of blood or lymph;
  • infection from nearby organs.

In every man's body there are pathogenic microorganisms that can stimulate the progression of prostatitis. But still not all men suffer from this dangerous and unpleasant disease. This means that not only pathogenic microflora, although it is the main cause of the development of pathology, favorable conditions are required for its activation. There are the following predisposing factors for the progression of the disease:

  • sedentary working conditions and sedentary lifestyle;
  • frequently change sexual partners;
  • premature termination of sexual intercourse, as a method of contraception;
  • abstinence from prolonged sex;
  • tight underwear;
  • Hypothermia;
  • other infections of the genitourinary system;
  • all types of prostate injuries;
  • bad habits;
  • foods that are too fatty and high in calories;
  • constant stress.

Level

In the medical field, the following classifications of chronic prostatitis are common:

  • infectious process caused by bacteria;
  • the disease is not caused by bacteria in nature;
  • asymptomatic (regardless of the course of infection);
  • stagnation. It arises from prolonged abstinence from sexual intercourse.

According to the stages of development, chronic prostatitis is divided into:

  • discharge - accompanied by pain in the groin, scrotum, accelerated ejaculation;
  • alternative - the same signs are observed as in the previous period, but with a little more, in the form of a frequent urge to urinate;
  • prolapse - ejaculation slows down, and the intensity of the urine stream decreases;
  • cicatricial changes - all of the above signs are inherent.

Symptom

Chronic prostatitis is manifested by the following symptoms:

  • pain and discomfort in the pelvic area, groin area, inner thigh, lasting for three months or more;
  • frequent urination;
  • extreme pain when needed;
  • painful erection;
  • sometimes no ejaculation at all;
  • sleep disorders;
  • decrease in working capacity;
  • itching, feeling cold, or excessive sweating in the perineum;
  • skin discoloration in the groin area;
  • decreased sex drive;
  • night erection;
  • loss of appetite;
  • irritability;
  • constant feeling of fatigue;
  • slight increase in body temperature.

Complications

Chronic prostatitis often does not show any signs, so the patient does not recognize the problem, does not treat it in time. All of this can lead to a number of complications.

Complications can be:

  • male infertility;
  • impotent;
  • urinary incontinence;
  • cysts in the prostate gland;
  • cancerous tumor of the prostate gland.

Diagnose

Diagnosing such a disease is not difficult for a urologist. Doctors do:

  • Ask the patient about pain or discomfort;
  • general examination of the groin area for rash, discharge or irritation;
  • digital examination of the prostate gland (through the rectal opening);
  • collection of secretions from the prostate gland.

These procedures are quite uncomfortable and sometimes painful, but are the most accepted for diagnosing such a disease.

In addition, the patient will be required to submit:

  • general urinalysis;
  • stains from the urethra;
  • urine for bacteriological study;
  • three-cup urine sample;
  • curettage to identify the causative agent.

Hardware diagnostics include:

  • Ultrasound of the prostate - to determine the volume of the prostate gland, the presence of tumors or cysts;
  • Urine flow meter - to determine the rate of urine outflow. In a healthy state, movement - fifteen milliliters per second, with chronic prostatitis - less than ten;
  • CT;
  • biopsy.

Without performing all of the above diagnostic methods, your doctor will not be able to determine how to treat chronic prostatitis.

Treatment

Although chronic prostatitis is difficult to treat, it is still possible to occur, especially when detected in time.

Treatment of this disease includes several stages:

  • antibiotic therapy, which in most cases lasts several weeks, if necessary, longer;
  • therapeutic massage course of the prostate gland - includes fourteen visits to the doctor;
  • eliminates spasms of the prostate gland, stagnation of urine and outflow of secretions from the gland with the help of certain groups of drugs that can only be prescribed by a specialist;
  • physical therapy, including microwave and laser therapy, various ultrasound methods, mud therapy and enemas with mineral- and hydrogen sulfide-enriched water;
  • Herbal. One good effect is to use essential oil from pumpkin seeds;
  • Surgical medical intervention, which is resolved only when there are changes in the size of the urethra, in the case of an abscess or prostate tumor.

Chronic prostatitis can be treated with folk remedies at home, but only with a combination of the above methods. Such therapies can relieve pain when symptoms appear, as well as prevent disease recurrence.

At home, the course of the disease can be alleviated with:

  • a mixture of honey and crushed pumpkin seeds;
  • fresh cucumber, radish and carrot juice. Use them at least five hundred milliliters a day;
  • pear compote;
  • decoction of parsley roots;
  • peel of ripe chestnuts;
  • celandine transmission;
  • coniferous baths, lasting no more than twenty minutes per day.

In addition, a special diet will help speed up the recovery process, helping to reduce or completely refuse certain foods:

  • rich and rich meat, fish, and mushroom broth;
  • hot sauces and condiments;
  • onion, garlic, horseradish, radish, chili;
  • pea's tree;
  • Cabbage;
  • milk and dairy products.

Preventive action

To prevent chronic prostatitis, men should adhere to a few simple rules:

  • if possible, avoid prolonged and severe hypothermia;
  • try to warm up every two hours with sedentary or sedentary work;
  • for constipation, use special means that have a laxative effect;
  • Wear only comfortable clothes that are not too tight. This is especially true for underwear;
  • having sex without frequently changing partners;
  • give up the habit of abstaining from sex for a long time;
  • promptly consult a doctor if you suspect the presence of diseases of the genital organs of any kind;
  • practice a healthy lifestyle, giving up all bad habits;
  • normalize the mode and composition of the food consumed. It is better to eat in small meals, five or six times a day. Include a large amount of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat in the diet;
  • Daily exercise.

Implementation of such simple recommendations will save a man from the appearance of such a problem as chronic prostatitis. After all, avoiding it is much easier than curing it.
